Noni juice is one of the new superfoods! It is packed full of antioxidants and has some great anti-inflammatory properties. Although still going through the scientific research stages, it has been known to boost immunity, support a healthy metabolism, and provide joint pain relief. We were willing to give it a go as we had a Noni tree in our yard and came up with a great, fresh Noni juice recipe.

Be warned, fresh Noni fruit straight off the tree smells like really old cheese. So if you’re not into old cheeses, be prepared. We keep the fruit in an airtight container as it finishes ripening.

What is the Noni Fruit?
The Noni fruit comes from a small evergreen tree found from South-eastern Asia to Polynesia and Australia, but we’ve also seen it growing in remote places like Madagascar, Grenada and The US Virgin Islands. Historically the Noni plant was used for a variety of health purposes, and today, the ripe fruit is turned into a noni juice used as a dietary supplement for various conditions.
How to make Noni Juice
Due to the unpleasant odor the fruit gives off when it ripens, the Noni fruit is commonly combined with other fruits to make juice. You can buy these pre-made, or make them yourself.
Fermented Noni Juice:
If you have time (a few months) you can make traditional fermented Noni Juice. This Noni Juice recipe entails placing a few ripe noni fruits in a sealed container and leaving it to ferment in the jar for up to 2 months.
Noni Juice Recipe
Our Fresh Noni Juice recipe is easy to make, the key is finding a flavour to mask the smell and taste of it. We like to mix grape juice/concentrate with it, as it has a strong enough flavour. Just blend the noni fruit with 1/2 – 1cup of water, strain it, and mix it with grape juice!
How To Make Fresh Noni Juice (Without Fermenting): Noni Juice Recipe
Equipment
- Blender
- Strainer
Ingredients
- 1 Ripe Noni Fruit
- Water
- Grape Juice
Instructions
- Wait for the Noni fruit to ripen. You can tell that it’s ripe when the skin turns translucent and feels thin (It also stinks, so keep the noni fruit in an airtight container as it ripens)
- Rinse the fruit well before use
- Blend the noni fruit with ½ – 1 cup of water until it is a smooth consistency
- Sieve the blended mix into a container (to take out the seeds)
- Pour 30ml of the noni juice into a cup (that’s about 1 shot glass)
- Fill the rest of the cup (to taste) with ice and grape juice(grape works best to mask the smell!). We often blend the mix again with the ice to make it into a smoothie!
It is soo healthy and really expensive if you have to buy it. So.. why not make it!
