1. Go for a Sunrise Stroll at Seven Mile Beach

We loved starting our day with a stroll along Seven Mile Beach, the main beach in Lennox. It’s a beautiful place to feel the morning breeze. Grab a coffee from one of the local cafes and enjoy the serene walk, soaking up the vibrant beachfront atmosphere.

2. Discover the Cafe Scene in Lennox

Breakfast in Lennox is always a highlight. For such a small ‘main strip’ there are plenty of great options for breakfast. Our go-to spots include Papaya for their incredible breakfast bowls and artisan coffee, Goanna for hearty, nourishing meals, and Kopi, where the funky pink espresso machine and stylish decor make it a great place to relax. Rise also offers great coffee and bagels that can kickstart your day.

3. Visit the Sustainable Shops in Lennox Head

We always make a point to find sustainable stores when we travel, and Seed and Husk, is a whole lot more than just a wholefoods shop. It’s a community hub featuring a cafe, a naturopathy clinic, and a selection of eco-friendly products. Here, you can organise seasonal produce boxes or enjoy a superfood smoothie, while discovering the latest range of eco products. Lennox Head also has it’s own community market, on the second and (when applicable) the fifth Sunday of each month, and there’s a small Vinnies at Lennox too.

If you want to explore more sustainable shops, check out the nearby towns of Byron Bay and Bangalow.

4. Experience the Tea Tree Wonders at Lake Ainsworth

One of the most popular things to do in Lennox is visiting Lake Ainsworth, known locally as the tea tree lake, situated on the north side of Pacific Parade. The 12 hectare lake’s waters, stained dark by surrounding tea trees, offer a unique swimming* experience (*just check the community boards for any safety updates). It’s a popular spot for families, ideal for swimming, floating, or paddle boarding. We ended up having a casual picnic here, grabbing something small from the Kiosk Lennox Head right across the street.

5. Have a Boozy Weekend Lunch at Shelter

Enjoy a boozy weekend lunch at Shelter, a coastal-style restaurant renowned for its set menu featuring six seasonal courses, with an optional wine pairing. Shelter’s commitment to freshness and sustainability is evident in every dish, as they source local produce to create flavors that capture the essence of the region. The relaxed, yet elegant atmosphere makes it a perfect spot for a leisurely lunch with friends or a special occasion.

6. Visit the Pat Moreton Lookout

The walk around Lennox Headland is breathtaking, and one of the most popular things to do in Lennox Head. It starts from the Pat Moreton Lookout and extends to Boulder Beach (one of our friends had their proposal along the walk – so trust us, its beautiful!). Even if you’re not up for a walk, the lookout itself offers spectacular views over Lennox Head and is worth the trip. It’s a great picnic spot on calm days or a place to watch hang gliders and surfers on windier days.

7. Dine at the Local Restaurants

One of the best things to do in Lennox head at night is checking out the restaurant scene. Lennox is not short on restaurants, making it a great foodie destination. These were some of our favourites:

  • Lennox Pizza, gourmet pizzas paired with creative cocktails
  • Chido Cantina, a chic spot serving zesty Mexican dishes alongside signature cocktails
  • Sushi and Burgers, delivers exactly what you expect, with each dish done well
  • Osteria Morelli, mouthwatering italian dishes made with local ingredients and served on carefully curated menus
  • Quattro, a fantastic atmosphere perfect for enjoying their happy hour specials
  • Shorty’s, an inviting atmosphere with shared plates and tapas
  • Mr. Tipsy’s, innovative Asian fusion dishes and an impressive cocktail menu

8. Take a Scenic Walk along the Lennox Head Boardwalk

This picturesque boardwalk route follows the coast, and provides a great view of the ocean and the skilled surfers tackling the waves at the point. It’s a beautiful backdrop for a morning walk or a romantic evening stroll and is one of the must-to Lennox Head activities.

9. Listen to live music at Williams St Kitchen and Bar

Catch the local music scene at Williams St, a funky restaurant and bar that has live music events every Saturday night. This spot isn’t just about the evening vibe; you can also have a delicious breakfast, lunch, or dinner there, and enjoy the casual dining in their relaxed beachside setting.

10. Go Surfing

The Northern Rivers are home to some amazing beaches. One of the best things to do in Lennox Head is to hit the waves. It’s a surfers paradise with some of the best spots to catch a break (and rivaling the beautiful Byron Bay beaches). Whether you’re surfing at The Point, where we experienced some truly beautiful waves, or exploring other prime spots like Lennox Reef, Boulders Beach, Flat Rock, and North Wall, the conditions vary daily offering both challenges and thrills. If you’re new to surfing, don’t worry—Lennox is also a great place to learn. ‘Let’s Go Surfing’ offers 2-hour beginners’ lessons that will have you riding the waves!

11. Visit Flat Rock

It’s hard to miss Flat Rock, just south of Lennox. It’s a stunning rocky outcrop known for its rock pools. This natural attraction offers a unique opportunity to explore the tidal pools, making it a one of the unique things to do in Lennox Head for families and nature lovers.

12. Stock up at Culture Wine and Liquor

Stop by Culture Wine and Liquor, a boutique bottle shop that prides itself on offering wines crafted with minimal intervention, alongside a selection of local craft beers and spirits. This gem is perfect for those who appreciate sustainable practices in their beverages, as the shop focuses on products that support local growers and environmentally friendly methods. The friendly staff are passionate about their selections and are always ready to help you discover the perfect drink to enhance your stay in Lennox Head.

13. Relax at Shelly Beach

This beach is known for its scenic beauty and a man-made rock pool that you can have a relaxing dip in. The rock pool is especially great if you have a family with children, or if you are looking to enjoy the water without the full force of the ocean waves. Enjoy a morning here sunbathing, reading a good book, or simply soaking up the tranquil environment.

14. Explore Nearby Waterfalls

There are some amazing waterfalls in the Gold Coast, and northern NSW. Head into the Nightcap National Park and discover the giant Minyon Falls, a breathtaking 100-meter waterfall. You can choose to view this site from above or take a 3-4 hour hike for a closer view from the base—both perspectives are equally rewarding. Further into the park, you’ll find Protesters Falls, another spectacular sight, and the Killen Falls, which features a small cave and a refreshing swimming hole just a short, albeit steep, 15-minute trek from the viewing platform.

Don’t miss Tosha Falls either; it’s a smaller but wide waterfall with an accessible swimming spot, just a quick 5-minute walk along a path by a fence line. Each of these waterfalls offers a unique experience, perfect for cooling off after a hike or simply enjoying the serene environment.

15. Go Snorkeling at Bream Hole

This was one of our favourite things to do in Lennox Head! Venture down to the southern end of Seven Mile Beach to explore Bream Hole, a secluded spot where a natural rock and seaweed barrier forms a large ocean pool. It’s a hidden gem in Lennox, and a great spot for snorkeling, especially at low tide when the water becomes shallow and crystal clear. Here, you’re likely to spot an array of fish, along with occasional turtles and stingrays. To reach this snorkeling location, park at the end of Dress Circle Drive and climb down to the water.
