One of the best camping byron bay locations in the whole of Byron Bay. Steps away from the beach, national park, and a short walk to the iconic Cape Byron Lighthouse.

This campground is a mixture of:

  • Powered camp sites = AUD$71/night (rate for two people, BYO tent)
  • Cabins = standard cabins $250/night (rate for up to 4 people minimum 2 nights)

This is a great Byron Bay campsite for those who want to be close to the beaches, yet be able to walk to town. If you want to venture a little further, there is also a Reflections in Lennox Head, with a glamping tent!

Ingenia Holidays is situated on 28 spacious acres of natural parklands. It is one of the biggest Camping Byron Bay’s accommodation providers, boasting 155 campsites and 70 cabins, with outstanding modern amenities.

Unlike some of the other mentioned campsites, it isn’t beachfront, but it’s not far (approximately 500m walk). The campsite site backs on to the Arakwal National Park and is full of wildlife. The park is aimed towards family holidays with a pool and kids play area.

Suffolk Beachfront Holiday Park

This campsite is located on the southern end of Tallows Beach near Broken Heads. While it is still Byron Bay it is actually an approximate 10-minute drive into town and the main shopping area.

If you have limited transport you might want to consider accessibility. This is the perfect choice for small groups who want to avoid the town and focus their energy on the beautiful beaches. Prices do range significantly throughout the year, depending on the season/weekend/weekday.

Glen-Villa Resort

This camping Byron bay camping site is not as scenic as some of the others. Situated close to town it is in a bushland area. The locality makes it handy to walk into town. But you have to walk through the town to get to the beach.

If you’re looking for a cheap, close proximity (to the action) campsite this could be the one for you.

Discovery Holiday Parks

Belongil Creek | 5 minutes drive from Byron Bay town

A little out of town (around 5-minute drive) this campsite is located in a bush area by the highway. It was a popular camping Byon Bay spot for the festival at Splendour In The Grass (which has moved location).

The site is close to the new industrial area which has some attractions like the Stone & Wood Brewery and boutique stores.

Broken Head Holiday Park

The most remote of the Camping Byron Bay sites, but possibly one of the best spots. Tucked into the Broken Head forest area. This campsite is on the doorstep of some beautiful, hidden gem beaches.

This site is best revered for those with transport. It is quite a walk to the main road and around 15 minutes drive form town.

Byron Bay Glamping

Many of the campsites mentioned above, also have their own permanent tents setup. Here you can get the camping Byron Bay experience without the camping work.

If you want a little more luxury, Byron Bay glamping has some great tents already set up – one has a bathtub!

Note that these glamping tents are located on a farm property around 15 minutes drive from Byron Bay town. So, you will need to have your own transport.

Things to do in Byron Bay

  • Cool off at one of the nearby Gold Coast waterfalls.
  • Take a dip in the Tea Tree lake – naturally dyed water that’s good for your skin
  • Snorkel or Scuba at Julian Rocks – full of amazing marine life, including turtles, rays, and sharks
  • Check out the local sustainable fashion brands – there are lots of great, local designers
  • Enjoy the beaches at Coolangatta
