Want to support Australian farmers by shopping locally? We’ve found 5 amazing Gold Coast farms that offer fresh produce, as well as delicious farm to table food. If you want to make a day trip out of it, there are some great Gold Coast Waterfalls to visit along the way.

1. Freeman’s Organic Farm

This 101-year-old family run organic farm is situated on the top of Currumbin Valley. Boasting amazing views, you can tour the property, wandering throughout the various fruit plantations, admiring all the fresh produce growing.

Farm Tours

A great way to take it all in is with their organised farm tour. They run a few times a day on the weekends for a small fee (around $5).

The Cafe

There’s a small independent cafe out the front serving organic burgers, coffee, and cake. They often have live music on the weekends. Check their Facebook for up-to-date music schedule.

  • Monday: 8am – 1pm

Where is Freeman’s Organic Farm Located?

Freeman’s organic farm is a short drive from the Gold Coast beaches. It is situated in the Currumbin Valley on the border of QLD and NSW.

2. Currumbin Valley Harvest

If you are looking to pick your own produce, this is one of the best Gold Coast farms for you to visit.

Pick your own Greenhouse-grown food

The Currumbin Valley Harvest has a one-acre greenhouse where you can choose your own rocket, kale, herbs and more.

Small Cafe

You can also grab a freshly made herbal tea, coffee, baked treats or farm-fresh fruit juice from the Shed Cafe. If you want to make a day trip, you can refresh at Coogal cascades, one of the beautiful Gold Coast waterfalls.

3. Farm & Co Kingscliff

If you are looking for fun things to do on the Gold Coast (or nearby), this amazing farm is just over the QLD border into the beautiful Northern New South Wales.

At only a 20 minute drive from Coolangatta, it is well worth the scenic drive.

Sunflowers

And yes, this is where you can walk through, dance, take photos in, and collect your own sunflowers.

These sunflowers have attracted people from all parts of the country. And for good reason. During the blossoming seasons, the farm is packed full of huge sunflowers (many grow overhead).

Fresh Local Produce

Be sure to bring your reusable bags, the produce section here is full of amazing local goods (fresh fruit & vegetables, jams, and even homemade pasta).

Restaurant with Farm Views

If you have the time it is well worth staying for a meal at the restaurant. With both outdoor and indoor seating, you can get some of the best food around.

Nearby Hidden Gem: Up the road from Farm & Co, is the newly opened Red Earth Brewery.

  • The farm & produce store: open daily 8:00am to 4:00pm (NSW time)
  • The Cafe: open daily 8:00am to 3:00pm (NSW time)

Where is Farm & Co Located?

You’ll drive past some of the reddest dirt you’ve ever seen on the way to Farm and Co. It is not far from the small suburb of Cudgen or the beachfront property Peppers.

4. Tropical Fruit World

This one is for the fruit lovers. Situated in Duranbah, this plantation boasts stunning views of Mt Warning and the scenic rim.

A tour/wildlife experience

It is a long-established destination and has great facilities to encourage interaction with the beautiful property. The farm offers a 2.5 hour tour that includes a tractor powered train and a motorboat ride down their river (great for a fun family day out).

Here you can see the farm area itself, kangaroos and emus (a sanctuary) as well as the natural wildlife along the river bed.

Fruit is seasonal

This farm is all things fruit. That includes the seasons. There is a wide variety of topical fruits available and they all have their own specific times of the year.

If you are not sure what you’re looking for (or looking at), there are some amazing, well-trained staff who can help you find the right fruit.

You’ll want to taste the chocolate custard apple, it’s a natural chocolate mousse!

Only minutes from Farm and Co and the beautiful Kingscliff beach. This place is a must-visit if you’re in the area.

5. The Farm at Byron Bay

Not technically a Gold Coast farm, but not far either. The Farm at Byron Bay is well worth a visit. Probably the most trendy out of all the above-mentioned places, this location has a great laid back but amazingly rustic vibe. Self Walking Tour

Here you can wonder yourself. There are rows and rows of various types of leafy veg, sunflowers, and macadamia nut trees (as well as some hairy pigs). The pathways are dirt, so it can be a little muddy after a rain.

Great restaurant & cafe

The food at The Farm does not disappoint. Three Blue Ducks is the name of the actual restaurant and they cook up a great array of local food.

They also have some fresh produce, prepackaged goods (jams, pasta, remade meals) and a flower shop.

Where is The Farm Located?

If you’re going to make the drive to Kingscliff, you might as well head that little bit further to The Farm. And if you’re at the turnoff to Byron Bay, well, you might as well visit that too.
