Extra notes for Glamping in Scotland

Glamping is a great way to get out into nature, disconnect with the rest of the world, and enjoy some quiet time. The difference between camping in Scotland and glamping is the amenities and fixtures.

Glamping tents, buses, boats, and yurts are all relatively fixed. This means you don’t need to put up or take down your tent during your getaway. You can simply turn up, get a bit of that camping feel (with some additional luxuries/comforts) and walk out again when you’re finished.

Close to Glasgow and Edinburgh

The best part about glamping in Scotland is that it can be a quick and easy retreat (if you want). A lot of the places on this list are within an hour’s drive from the main cities.

This makes them perfect retreats for weekends. There are also options that require a little more travel (like some of the remote islands) but these could also be done over a weekend.

Does the time of year effect Glamping?

Yes. Some of the tent and yurt options close during the winter months. Even though there is indoor heating (or fireplaces), wild weather can sometimes mean that structures need to be taken down.

Each of the Airbnb options mentioned in this list state whether they close at all during the winter months and from what dates.

Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park Camping

Loch Lomond and the Trossachs National has designated campsites. These are for pitching tents or sleeping in RVs.

There is also a “Holiday Park” that has small cabins, however, these did not fit into the real unique category under our glamping accommodations. Glamping Spots on our list that are in the Loch Lomond area are:

Loch Ness Glamping

One of the most famous spots in Scotland. There are several camp sites around the Loch, but if you want the glamping experience, check out the accommodations highlighted in the following categories:

  • The Field House (Tiny House Category)
  • Loch Ness Glamping (Pod Category)
  • Trawler Boat (Boat Category)
